- The Creatures||Los Critures
Ever since Antonio was young, he's had a connection to the Creatures. For some reason, they and he have a bond, a mutual understanding for one another-- at least in Antonio's eyes. He feels connected to them, close to them, like they are his family. In fact, he will openly say that they are, indeed, his family. Thus, if you try to hurt the Creatures, you are attempting to damage Antonio's family, and that is not a very good idea.
“The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them; that's the essence of inhumanity” - George Bernard Shaw - The Sun||El Sol
The sky, cerulean and empty, spare the few friendly clouds that dawdle their way through the sky, occasionally casting a shadow over the world below. These days are perfect, because the sun is out and shining and brilliant and perfect. The sun is Antonio's fuel, his life supply, the thing that can fill him so easily with joy and love. The sun shining on his face is like God smiling down on Antonio, kissing the earth, and embracing his children. Antonio loves it. And he LOVES to sunbathe-- it's one of the reasons he's so happy his skin doesn't burn easily.
“No matter how dark the night, somehow the sun rises once again and all shadows are chased away” - David Matthew Click - The Ocean||El Mar
The ocean is Antonio's home. Though he loves solid ground, the water is where he belongs. The gentle ebb and flow of the water against a boat, the lazy tides that wash in and out, hiding a deep, vicious, stirring power withing them until provoked... it's strangely symbolic of something, of someone, so close to Antonio, that he can relate a bit. Perhaps that's why he feels so at home with Ocean.
"Can ye fathom the ocean, dark and deep, where the mighty waves and the grandeur sweep?" -Franny Crosby - Seeing a Smile||Ver una sonrisa
People, so Antonio have learned, take themselves and everything around them far too seriously. Any innocent comment is now a personal attack, any look is a judgmental one. If something goes wrong, it will never go right and the world is over-- long story short, people are too caught up in themselves. Honestly, it saddens Antonio to know that his world is so sorrowfully filled with such people. But seeing a smile, seeing that one symbol of joy, no matter how short lived, is the greatest moment for Antonio. Especially in a world governed by hate, a smile is wonderful thing.
"Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day." -H. Jackson Brown, Jr. - Children||Los Niños
Children. Are. Adorable. Not one sole can argue this with Antonio and expect to win. From their size, to their spunk, to their cute little faces-- Antonio cannot help but melt when he sees a child in his presence, especially once they're old enough to walk. Children are the faces of the innocent, the closest thing on earth that humans have to heaven. Looking at a child, Antonio often wonders if they still see their guardian angel. He figures they must, and that's why they're usually so good with creatures...
"The only thing worth stealing is a kiss from a sleeping child." -Joe Houldsworth - "Games"|| <<Los Partidos>>
Ah, yes, "games". Everyone loves games-- but not everyone likes Antonio's games. The Spaniard is a big kid-- and I say that in the sense that he is an adult with a child's exuberance and joy of entertainment. Antonio's games aren't patty-cake and jump rope, or even futbol (though he does love it so), but rather are bull fighting and fencing. True, he may be lower class, but he is just as classy as anyone else.
"Give me a sword fight any day." - Joseph Fiennes - Speaking Spanish||Hablar español
Antonio firmly believes that his native tongue is the most beautiful thing to be uttered. He loves it when people want to speak to him in Spanish. He feels more completely when he speaks in the tongue, feeling truly like himself, feel his point is perfectly conveyed. There are no tricky idioms to memorize, because he grew up with them! Spanish is Antonio's lover, and their love is hot and constantly burning.
“Live with wolves, and you learn to howl” - Spanish Proverb - Homemade food|| Comida Casera
While diner-served food is delicious and appreciated, whlie take out may be a wonderful option, and though scraps are sometimes necessary, Nothing will ever beat the taste of fresh, home baked bread, newly cooked paella, delicious treats and goodies... there's something about that sense of generous elbow-grease, that fact that someone is making this solely for your benefit, that makes homemade food delicious.
“Cooking is like making love, you do it well, or you do not do it at all” - Harriet van Horne[

- Being Called a Pedophile||Ser llamado un pedófilo
Let's clarify this right now: Antonio is not a pedophile. Say what you want, make all the jokes you want, so long as you are saying it in a humorous manner. If there is any sense of seriousness in ones tone when referring to Antonio as a pedophile, you may just get an axe to the face, or he'll attack your knees. Just because he likes children, it doesn't make him a pedophile-- people only say that because he's a man and he likes children. If he was a woman, they'd call him motherly.
“A wrongly accused man is always vilified by the ignorant masses. Such a man should fire at will, he is bound to hit something.” - Anonymous
[/li][li]Most humans||La Mayoría de las Personas
Unless the human in question is a saintly person, having no record of malice toward a creature and having only the best intentions for the world as a whole, Antonio will look upon the human race with a scornful eye. But this is why he loves children so greatly; generally speaking, the human race hasn't corrupted them yet.
From Antonio's experiences, the human race is filled with arrogance, selfishness, and disregard for life. He has no interest in such a society, yet is always compelled to be a part of it. He hates the inner conflict.
“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.” - Albert Einstein
[/li][li]Being Provoked||Ser Provocado
Antonio does very well at composing himself. He has managed to fool the masses (not that this is a difficult thing to do) into thinking that he is a mindless, foolish young man who is oblivious to the evils of the world. Mindless optimism rules his life and as long as he is this way, he will never be a threat to anyone.
Oh stupid people, if only this was true. Antonio is perhaps one of the most frightening people when he is crossed. That innocent smile, that childish laugh, while they are undoubtedly a part of Antonio's personality, they hide another part of Antonio that is really only expressed when "shit hits the fan". This is usually the case of a mistreated creature, an betrayal, or the sake of protecting those who cannot. In short, you cannot actually be sure when Antonio will snap, but you had better hope that it is not on you.
“A destruction, an annihilation that only man can provoke, only man can prevent.” - Elie Wiesel
[/li][li]False Promises||Mierda
Do not waste Antonio's time with false promises or sweet nothings that are just that-- nothing. Antonio is a compassionate man, desperate to put his faith in humanity despite the constant disappointment he faces. He hates so very greatly when people make promises with no intention of keeping them. It's like telling someone that the pile of feces that they are about to eat is just very bitter chocolate; disgusting and low. He has no interest in bing on the receiving end of it.
“All deception in the course of life is indeed nothing else but a lie reduced to practice, and falsehood passing from words into things.” - Robert Southey[/li][/ul]
Strengths ►
- Singing and Storytelling||Cantando y Contando
Antonio is a naturally expressive person, very animated and filled with life. For this reason, when he starts to tell a story, he really gets into it. Arms, expressions, sounds-- anything that would transform words into reality, Antonio has a way of finding them and applying them properly to whatever he's saying. Sometimes he might overdo it, but many times that makes a story more interesting. After all, if the storyteller isn't into his story, how can you be?
Antonio has many stories to tell, having grown up around travelers and in a place where stories were the only means of entertainment that people had. He recalls loving stories as a child, and therefore knows how children and others will enjoy them.
"If a nation loses its storytellers, it loses its childhood." - Peter Handke - Navigation||Navegación
Some things are natural, passed through the generations and perfected until it reached the latest child. The gift of direction is one of these things, passed through the men in Antonio's family for ages until getting to him. The man has a wonderful sense of direction and a wonderful comfort when navigating a vessel through water. The stars are his best friends on the sea and the wind is his guide on land. he has receptors in his mind tuned to direct him, designed to help him find way around (and perhaps to help him find escape routes when need be). If ever lost, Antonio is the man who will help you find your way home.
“Direction is more important than speed. We are so busy looking at our speedometers that we forget the milestone.” - Anonymous - Dancing||Bailando
A perfect melody, a calling beat, beautiful words-- the hum of a guitar; yes, music was the soul set ablaze. Perhaps it's because Antonio grew up in a place where music was so important, where music was a story without words, and where dancing was the greatest form of expression, but the art of dance is something that Antonio always needed in his life. Dance is not only an extension of the music that it matches, but is also an extension of a person, of a hand, of a friendship.
Antonio knows, from experience, that dance can bring people closer together. It is an intimate moment of closeness, of soul searching, of intensive energy being poured out. Dancing isn't something simple, and it takes a person with great elegance, great emotion, and a great ass to be a great dancer.
“Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.” - Angela Monet - Masking Emotions||Ser Fuerte
Everyone has their secrets~
“A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong gives it a superficial appearance of being right.” -Thomas Paine - Optimistic||Radiante
If there is one thing that Antonio can do in his sleep, it's see the bright side of things. There is nothing that Antonio can be presented with that he cannot spin a bright view on. While some may find this to be a sign of weakness, as he has to find the good in all, Antonio sees it as a proof of strength, as he refuses to let anything negatively impact him. SOMEONE has to be optimistic, so why not the man of sunshine, the man who oozes confidence, the man who can't help but smile even when he is in pain? Why, if this man can spread a smile as easily as he spreads sweet butter on warm, freshly baked bread, then the world would definitely be a better place.
But the thing that Antonio can do that many people seem to appreciate is bring goodness out of bad, regardless of the situation. Sometimes this might be out of place, but at least he helps to offer that peace of mind.
"It is a funny thing about life: if you refuse to accept anything but the best you very often get it." -William Somerset Maugham
Weaknesses ►
- Blunt||Sincero
Some people feel that the best way to befriend someone, or the best way to make them feel good about themselves, is to tell them what they want to hear. Antonio, though, finds this to be the most clear example of poppycock in the world. The truth is the greatest thing that a human can tell, and the greatest thing that any soul can receive. More damage, Antonio feels, has been done through untruths than by a bullet. However, there are ways of going about telling the truth... Antonio was not told this. Perhaps it's his carefree mannerism or obliviousness, but Antonio has a horrible habit of telling people EXACTLY how things are, whether they want to hear it or not. He does not sugarcoat monstrosities and he does not dress up the disgusting things of the world; beauty is found in the most natural of states, and thus the things in the world should be taken as they were originally delivered. So, perhaps it is not the smartest idea to tell any sort of gossip to Antonio that you wouldn't want someone to hear....
“'Tis not enough your counsel still be true; Blunt truths more mischief than nice falsehoods do.” - Alexander Pope - Overly Optimistic||¡Manda Huevos!
Even when he shouldn't be, even when things don't need optimism, Antonio can be found smiling, can be heard with good will on his lips, can be felt to be filled with warmth. While anyone would think that this is a good thing, something nice for others, it is something that is the worst for Antonio himself. He has objected himself to being the single person that will always be there for the sake of others, will always try to make others smile. With such enormous pressure, he more than often not feels as though he is not allowed to be sad or angry or distraught, or anything other than happy. It pains him to hide his emotions, and it hurts even more to think, to feel deeply within himself that if for a moment he stops being happy, that people will assume the worst of him. He especially believes that if the creatures he works with see him in a negative way, that they will come to believe that he is like every other horrible human who doesn't care.
“Smile when it hurts most.” -Unknown - Oblivious||Podría importarse menos
Is it a ruse or is it reality? Either way, it can be said that Antonio has a horrible ability to misread and misdiagnose the circumstances he finds himself in. In times of seriousness and strife and pain, he would be the first person to yell "penis" in good humor. Likewise, if a moment of intense bonding or feuding between two bitter parties was taking place, Antonio would be that guy who would burst in and interrupt to mention that he accidentally kicked his football into the neighbor's yard and knocked over and important piece of decoration. He cannot seem to "read the atmosphere", so to say, and therefore speaks out of place or says things that don't fit with the current situation. It often leads people to believe him to be an ignorant fool.
However, if taken from the vantage point that his "oblivion" is simply a ruse, simply an act that he puts on, a different light completely can be shined. Antonio, now, reveals a certain disdain for people's opinions and cares, and a tendency to purposely change the subject for the simple means of shutting someone up. In this case, Antonio is a very stubborn, rude, and offensive person and doesn't care.
It can be said, in all truth from either vantage, that Antonio is oblivious to the consequences, both good and bad, of his actions.
"In spite of crossing guards blowing their whistles and waving their hands, (the driver) kept going, oblivious to the child standing directly in front of her." - Bill Schwartz - Stubborn||Egoísta
If you have ever been exposed to that one person who, no matter what you tell them, no matter what you say or do, refuses to stray from their path and refuses to accept that they are wrong and you are right, then you have more than likely met Antonio. Though he is amicable, though he is warming, if anyone tries to sway his opinion on anything, they would be met with the most vexatious abundance of obstinance that they would ever encounter. Antonio is a man who makes plans and sticks to them. He has given himself a mission and he has no intention of changing anything for anyone. If someone is in the way of his mission, he will move them; likewise, if someone tries to stop him, he will remove them, and he isn't afraid of doing so either. Behind that smile is a man with no remorse who wouldn't think twice about eliminating someone who posed as a threat to his cause. This, of course, tends to ostracize him even more from the human part of society, but sometimes even from the creatures, leaving him at the awkward gray line between the two.
"Many are stubborn in pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal." -Friedrich Nietzsche
Dreams ►
- To buy his own ship||Estar al mando del mar
It's not something easy to explain, really, but Antonio has just... felt at home on the sea. Ever since he first stepped foot aboard his father's vessel, he found that it was a wonderful place to be. Antonio finds that the relationship between boat, sailor, and water is a very romantic one, one that transcends the love and beauty that most people understood. The boat relied completely the ocean, the sailor completely on the boat, and the ocean needed both sailor and boat to be understood. True, the sea could be a cruel mistress, but solely because she has been so mistreated. But Antonio knows that she is a gentle lover, and is willing to love her gentle. First, he needs a boat of his own though...
Antonio also feels that if he has his own boat, he can move his "service" aboard the boat, giving the creatures their own rooms and areas to live while Antonio tries to match them up with the perfect family.
“Compare society to a boat. Her progress through the water will not depend upon the exertion of her crew, but upon the exertion devoted to propelling her. This will be lessened by any expenditure of force in fighting among themselves, or in pulling in different directions.” - Henry George - To Be Someone's Papa||Sería un Papí
Antonio's desire to be a "papa" does not root in the lack of father he had growing up. It has nothing to do with any desire to set something wrong with his childhood right through other children. Rather, it comes from a natural drive to care for those who cannot, will not, or do not know how to care for themselves. He likes knowing that people appreciate his effort, and a father is always loved, and always appreciated. True, he may not be liked when he is being a father, but when he is being reflected upon, he was a father. Antonio also believes that, in being a papa, he can be able to raise both creatures and children with an open mind and begin a generation of acceptance.
"It doesn't matter who my father was; it matters who I remember he was." -Anne Sexton - To Liberate the Oppressed||Destruir a los opresores
If there is one thing that is wrong in the world, it is the way that humans treat the creatures that surround them. They are treated like property, like hats or shirts or toys-- cosas, things without life or a thought of their own. But that idea is wrong. It's wrong and disgusting and Antonio hates it more than anything. He's seen creatures abused, attacked, ignored, and endure the worst forms of torture thinkable. They are the scapegoat for every wrong, they are the object of torture and hate and discrimination for those who are too cowardly to admit their faults. Antonio wants to see this end. All-- creatures and humans alike-- are creatures of God and should be treated as such.
“Deep down even the most hardened criminal is starving for the same thing that motivates the innocent baby: Love and acceptance” - Lily Fairchilde - To be Important to Someone||Ser importante a alguién
Everyone has that desire at some point in their lives when they really want some meaning to their life. For Antonio, the moment of meaning in his life is that in which he knows that he has had a positive impact on someone's life. Antonio does a lot of things for people, even if his intentions for doing so usually root back to himself, he does involve himself in people's difficulties with the intention of bettering them. He doesn't ask for gratitude, but sometimes a simple "thank-you" is all he needs to feel important. Being a social creature, though, being important to others means feeling important to himself.
"One of the things that characterizes good intellectual work is a certain self-importance." -Whitfield Diffie
Fears ►
- Fire||Fuego
Antonio has met many a person who have irrational fears-- that is, they fear something simply for the thing itself, not for any particular reason. In the case of fire, Antonio wishes he had an irrational fear. Instead, he is plagued with this sense of panic and inner turmoil at the sound of a crackling fire, at the site of the dancing flame, and the feel of its parching heat. Fire is a vicious symbol of struggle, failure, pain, and horror in Antonio's life, a source of salvation perverted into the harbinger of destruction. Sometimes, the memory of something stings much more than the physical pain.
"Fire, water, and government know nothing of mercy." ~Proverb - Becoming a Monster||Tornarse un Monstro
Let's get the facts out of the way from the get-go: The world looks at creatures and all they can see is monstrosity. They see something inhuman and, out of fear, wish to destroy it. With this mentality, it's no wonder that one is always surrounded by them fears this mindset. The thought of constant pain and suffering, of longing for humanity and watching it slip out of grasp with every loss of temper or every look of disapproval-- it's something that Antonio hates and does not want. Who would want to be seen as a monster, to be seen as something that the world sees as scum? Certainly not he... but, likewise, he knows that the creatures do not like this either. But this is what he fears the most. He fears becoming one of the real monsters of society, becoming one of the "humans" who attack out of fear, who hurt out of desire to be strong. If the Spaniard ever found himself in such a place, he would beg for termination.
"Truly great madness cannot be achieved without significant intelligence." - Henrik Tikkanen - Losing Everything||Olividarse Quién Él es
After thirty-two years of life, after twelve solid years of working for a specific cause, the last thing that Antonio-- that ANYONE-- would want is to see it all disappear. He has found himself a place where he can work his operations of good intentions, he's built a name for himself, he's recovered from the rough patch that he had gone through at the start of his campaign. Antonio has, in all the years he's been alive, finally found himself... the last thing he wants is to see it disappear, to wake up one day and find himself completely stripped of purpose, of successes, of direction... of identity...
"And yet, I suppose you mourn the loss or the death of what you thought your life was, even if you find your life is better after. You mourn the future that you thought you'd planned." -Lynn Redgrave - Unbearable Pain||Sufrimiento
There can be something said for people who have a high pain tolerance, and that is that they are very much inhuman. Despite the rigorous tests of strength and endurance that Antonio might have endured in his lifetime, he has a very small gauge of pain tolerance. The idea of doing anything that would bring him excruciating pain is one that makes him twitch. He can be very squeamish at times for this reason. He feels as though he is enduring the pain when he thinks of it, and therefore begins to think that the pain would only be exponentially worse than he imaged, and thus he makes himself afraid of the pain. With so much pain, though, one tends to lose their focus with the world around them, with the reality of things, and guilt and regret and despair eat away at the mind. Thoughts and fears turn into mental anguish, and that's enough to drive any man crazy. Antonio is no exception.
“We were promised sufferings. They were part of the program. We were even told, 'Blessed are they that mourn.'” - C.S.Lewis
Personality ►I will preface this description of Antonio's personality by saying that there are very few people in the world that are exactly as they appear and have no depth to them. Everyone is complicated and everyone is wrapped up in a large bundle of confusing emotional ties and personal history, complex to the point of aggravation. Truly, though, these are the things that give the human soul beauty; it is this fact that, while every human is complex, each is complex for very different reasons. Antonio is, in no way, an exception to this rule.
At first glance is a man of great simplicity. Dressed plainly on the streets, Antonio puts this air about him that suggests that there is nothing special about him. Laidback, kind, and instantly smiling, he is that man that you want to talk to, but wouldn't know what to say. This is, in fact, the very point that Antonio wishes to express, though; first impressions are very important, and it being with appearance. Antonio makes himself to be the most approachable person, dressing commonly, often almost slobbishly, showing his humble lifestyle and portraying his personal character. In his mind, the clothes of the wealth have no individuality to them and he therefore has no interest in them.
Should one approach this lowly vendor, they would be met with the greatest smile and purist interest from a stranger. Antonio is an almost obnoxiously magnanimous person, willing to talk to whoever will listen and listen to whoever will talk. His reputation of the perfect friend may not preceed him, but it might as well. As long as a person has made eye contact with Antonio, they are sure to have met him and, as far as he knows, they have enjoyed his company, and he theirs.
Antonio's most notable feature has to be his smile. Bright, warm, and friendly, his smile ropes people in. It very rarely fades, and as long as it is present it is strong. Amid a community of gloomy, darkly clouded faces, Antonio's smile breaks through as a burst of sunshine. Perhaps it is this smile of his that draws people toward him. Anyone who smiles so easily must be a friendly person, must be someone worth knowing, must have some secret behind that joy. It's no secret, though; it's strength.
Antonio is the type of man that, when faced with a situation of silence, will break the silence with giant axe, simply to ensure that the silence is properly disposed of and replaced with shiny, new conversation. It's not that silence discomforts the Spaniard, he simply prefers conversation. He likes talking to people, hearing people, making people feel comfortable and at home. In doing so, he often feels more comfortable and at home. Antonio enjoys being a person that people can seek shelter in; for him, it's a sign that he is trusted.
Trust is one thing that Antonio prides himself in. He is a person that anyone can trust, and he is this way naturally. He doesn't go out of his way to prove his trust, he allows people to confide in him only if they feel comfortable. He does not pry if someone says that they do not wish to speak, though he does show concern. But, perhaps his is what makes Antonio so easy to trust; he is approachable and friendly, making him someone people WANT to trust.
Many believe that honesty is the best policy, yet turn around and live in dishonesty. Antonio, though, makes sure never to be in the seat of dishonesty. He is fearless in his endeavor for truth, believing that it is better to be honest above all things. This, though, has a tendency to conflict with the trust that people place in him. Should he be asked to keep a secret, he will truthfully say that it is not wise to tell him gossip, or to tell him something that they would not want someone else to hear. He knows that if anyone was to ask him of this secret, he would primarily state that someone has told it to him in confidence, and that he hopes they respect that. But if they insist on knowing, he will tell the inquisitor.
For the most part, Antonio is a man who seems to be predictable. He is usually in the same places doing the same things at the same times each and everyday. But he can also be considered predictable in the way that he acts and reacts. Antonio is a man who supports and opposes causes and philosophies as he deems fit, but there is a pattern to it. He supports honesty, integrity, loyalty, goodness and equality, and as long as a person stands for these things, he will stand by them. Likewise, though, Antonio stands by those that have stood by him, giving them his unquestionable loyalty. Antonio is a dependable man, and as long as someone puts their hope and trust in him, he will stay by and do all he can think to do.
If there is one thing the world is lacking, it is more incouragible optimists. However, after meeting Antonio, one might take on the belief that he could compose an armada of sunny disposition. This would not be an incorrect assumption, in reality, because Antonio very much believes in seeing the brightside of everything. There is nothing that Antonio can be presented with that he cannot spin a bright view on. While some may find this to be a sign of weakness, as he has to find the good in all, Antonio sees it as a proof of strength, as he refuses to let anything negatively impact him.
Antonio is a very passionate man in many ways. He is passionate about his work, he is passionate about his cause, and he's passionate about his relationships. Friends, family, customers-- anyon that Antonio has forme some sort of relationship with has an importance in his life. He stands very much behind the idea that everything happens for a reason, that God has presented certain circumstances in his life for a reason, and for this reason treasures every connection he makes. For this reason, Antonio is very adament about his friends being happy and worry-free. He would much rather take their concerns upon his shoulders and muscle through them than subject them to difficulties. Though he does hold the belief that struggles are sacred, he also believes that they are not meant to be dealt with by the struggler alone.
Sometimes, Antonio can be very nosy, but only because he is concerned about those he cares about. He may go asking around for information if the person of interest won't tell him directly, but he would do it in a very covert way, perhaps by mentioning his worry, but not delving into it or bringing much attention to it. When he's certain something is wrong, Antonio has a tendency to be stubborn about helping, not relenting until he's positive that the afflicted is well, or that he's done all he can. Even in that instance, though he will stay close by to double check.
If anything can be said about Antonio, it is that he is a strong-willed individual. He has a wonderful habit of making plans and sticking to them, never surrendering until he accomplishes a task. He is a very energetic person, giving him the drive he needs to go forward with his desires, and giving him the energy he needs to never stop going forward. Coupled with his optimism, Antonio assures that nothing is impossible for him. Even when times seem dark and things seem hopeless, Antonio will not relent. He has a mission, one that he feels he has been assigned to since birth, and he will not stop until he knows that he has accomplished goal.
Antonio is a spirited man, filled with youthful exuberance and child-like wonder of the world around him. He loves being active and loves playing games (football, horseback riding, racing, swimming, you name it), and loves being around people, especially outside. The open world brings pure joy to the already blissful soul, and it spurs Antonio to walk through life with a skip in his step. Fearlessly, he treds through the most difficult of situations, optimistic, joyful, and filled with the energy to overcome anything that gets in his way.
If anyone understands how it feels to be unforgiven, it is Antonio. It is a dreadful, crushing feeling that can tear a person apart and cripple them indefinitely. For this reason, Antonio is a very forgiving person. Perhaps he is too forgiving, for even over major faults, an apology is enough for Antonio to give a smile and rekindle the ousted relationship. As said previously, he treasures his relationships and would never desire them to continue with rotting damage accumulating.
The main motivation for Antonio's forgiveness, though, is his own desire for forgiveness. Truly, Antonio has a feeling that one must treat others how they wish to be treated; therefore, he forgives people, because he too wants to be forgiven. However, it is important to remember that Antonio lives by a certain philosophy of "Forgive and never forget", so while he may be forgiving, the fault is forever in his mind. He tries to use faults as learning experiences, though.
As trustworthy and forgiving as Antonio might be, he is actually quite the skeptical person. While it is easy for people to trust him, he finds it extremely difficult to trust other people. Perhaps it's just rotten memories, but Antonio has found that people only ever care about themselves and what benefits them. Following such a mentality, there's no reason to trust anyone, because they will betray you in the end for their own sake.
He may not readily show it, but Antonio is always very cautious of the way he words things, the way he interacts with people, even the manner in which he is standing. Every move he makes is planned out, it has to be, otherwise he feels uncertain in his situation and feels like he will be taken advantage of.
There's a major difference between telling the truth and telling the truth tastefully. Antonio, though, doesn't seem to cary about this difference. Antonio speaks his mind, no matter the situation, and no matter how harsh, or potentially rude, what he has to say might be. Honesty is the best policy, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Everyone deserves the full truth and there is no filter needed in that case; this is the thought process that Antonio has.
If Antonio is asked his opinion on something, he will give an entirely true answer. For this rason, he may not be the best person to go to if you're looking for a specific answer. He will have no mercy with his honesty, but he will say everything with a smile.
To many, this may be the understatement of the year. Antonio undoubtedly shows a very innocent way of looking at the world. He likes see the simplicity in complex thoughts, and loves to be the first one to laugh at a joke. However endearing this might seem, though, it is an almost perminent feature about Antonio. He will often overlook deeper meanings behind people's words, seeming to write off cruelty as a joke and sarcasm as seriousness. If presented with sexuality, he will act oblivious to it and say that someone was "being friendly".
Some people who are stubborn show it through temper tantrums. Antonio shows it through kindly suggestions. "Podrías...." is a phrase he will often use to persuade people to see his way or do his will. Translated to "Would you kindly...", his request can even has an air of malevolence surrounding it. Antonio does not easily surrender his viewpoints and ideas to people, chosing rather to fight them with his smile and good mood. Clearly, he figures, that if people see him so hapy and content with his choice, it must be the right choice.
However, Antonio is not one to take the ideas of another very easily, either. He is very close-minded and unwilling to accept schools of thought outside his own. As a result, he can seem childish, perhaps even stupid to some people, because his inability to accept anything but his own belief makes him seem foolish. However, he feels that his beliefs and thoughts are justified, and therefore will always faithfully standby them.
Antonio is a bit of an airhead. Alright, so he's a total airhead, but that's only because of where he was brought up. He is a country-boy at heart, where things are simple, the sun is always shining, people are always friendly, and deep thoughts aren't needed. Or, well, at least it would seem that way. In reality, though, the country life allowed for TOO MUCH thinking... too much thinking without any formal education.
Perhaps because of this, Antonio lacks a little bit of common sense, and because of this he can be so innocent in social situations. He's not exactly used to talking with a lot of people, especially those who are so involved in the community. Even in modern times,he spends his time around creautres, who aren't always that willing to be in the know of human.
Antonio has a hard time with idioms and sayings, especially English ones. They're very odd to him and don't make sense....
Antonio comes from the country. He comes from a small family that lived on a farm with a father who was a fisherman. Money was always tight for them, and even now money is tight. There are many days that Antonio actually doesn't eat. Between paying for his creature market and paying for food for his creatures, he rarely has money for himself. He doesn't have a home, choosing instead to live wherever his creatures are.
As a result, Antonio is very unwilling to give money away or share money at all. He works very hard to get whatever money he can; yes he "sells" creautres, but he also tried to work various odd jobs as well. Why should he share his money with those who ask him for it unless they've worked to deserve it? Further more, why should he give his hard earned money to those who are clearly trying to steal his money with cheap deals and useless items.
Do not let anything confusion, you, though. Despite his obliviousness, despite his childishness, despite his bumpkin ignorance, Spain is a layered man, but not in an obvious way. He purposely makes himself seem obvious, seem transparent and easily predictable, when in reality, he is anything. If anyone paid close enough attention, they'd notice a viciousness behind his eyes or a craving for trouble. He actually has a low tolerance for a lot of people and loses interest in conversations very quickly, but masks that with an appearance of childishness.
For the sake of others around him, though, Antonio hides his true intensions. He knows that people would think of ill of him knowing his true thoughts on matters, if they saw the real him, and therefore hides it away. No one is real anyway, everyone is fake, hiding behind masks of kindness and interest for their own sake. All anyone cares about is themselves and the betterment of themselves. Antonio is just like everyone else in that regard.

Knock, Knock, Knock
What good were promises if they weren't kept? Breaking a promise was like planting corn and never caring for it, but expecting a full harvest the following fall; stupid and pointless. The farmer wouldn't fool the corn, and likewise the lier would never fool Antonio. But he hoped he wouldn't need to be fooled.
Knock, Knock, Knock
One week; that was the agreement. One week to prove that he could take care of a creature, one week to get his bearings together, one week to build a proper room for the creature. One week of bullshit. Of course, the moment the man made the deal, Antonio knew it would be useless, but he had a belief in his mind that it could be true. If Xavier didn't seem to mind, then Antonio would allow him to stay.
But then he got word that Xavier was still being abused by the man. And that meant that Antonio would have to interject once again.
Knock, Knock, Knock
That was three times that he knocked without relpy, and he knew that the man was inside. Antonio laughed. "Señor! I know you are in su casa! Abre la puerta, por favor!" No good, the man didn't open the door.
Antonio pressed his ear against the door and listened. He could hear breathing. He stopped, looked at the door and noticed a peephole, the odd things they were. Antonio smiled, tapping on the peephole. "Señor? Are you looking at me and not answering the door? That's very rude señor." Antonio said, his smile not fading.
Still he did not open the door, and this made Antonio sigh. "Señor... I khave your money aqui. I just want Xavier." He heard shuffling from behind the door, saw the door knob move a bit, and realized that the man was barracading the door. "Señor, if you open the door, I swear no kharm with come to you. Though you definitely detherve it~"
Antonio could still hear the breathing. Good, he didn't move away from the door then. The Spaniard chuckled, looking at what he held in his hand.
"Te Recomiendo opening this door, señor... I do not want to khave to make you do tho... Antonio's lips curled into a smile, his eyes sparkling wtih mischief. "Señor... Lo Pienso... I told that I think of the creatures as mi familia, no? Well... Mi familia es muy importante, usted comprende? No, I suppothe you don't-- you still khaven't opened esta puerta..." Antonio sighed, looking into the peep hole. "You khave three seconds to open up...."
No reply.
"Uno..."

"Uno..."
Antonio stepped away from the door.
"Dos... open up or step away Señor..."
Antonio tightened his grip.
"... Tres."
THWACK! THWACK! TWHACK!
Without mercy, Antonio swung is axe at the man's door. From within he heard a scream of panic as the wood split and the chop echoed throughout the area. Once the wood was weak enough, Antonio kicked it open, staring with malice at the man.
He walked to the man, cowering away from the broken door. He grabbed the man's neck, holding him in the air, his axe by his side. "I warned you, Señor. I told you not try to fool me with false promithes. Pero, you did so anyway. Y ahora... Quiero Xavier." Antonio smiled darkly. "It is said that when a man lies, his tongue shuold be cut out..." Antonio chuckled. "Pero, no estoy en acuerdo.
Antonio's smile faded and he threw the man against the wall, bringing his axe to his shoulder and pulling a knife from his boot. He went to the man, driving the knife into his leg. "Ecco... I want you to underthtand something señor. You will never be able to take in a creature again. I will spread a piss poor representation about your sorry ass so fast, no vendedor will dream of selling to you." He twisted the knife, the man's scream finally hitting Antonio's mind.
He pulled out the knife, stood, and walked off, looking through the house for the creature that the man had adopted. Antonio was almost brought to tears at the sight, that small creature laying, shivering, under a staircase, thrown in as if luggage, abused as if it had no worth.
Kindly, gently, lovingly, Antonio took the creature into his arms, cuddling him and comforting him, kissing his head as it trembled and clung to him.
Antonio walked back toward the door, looking at the man and the blood that surrounded him. He reached into his pocket and produced a sack of money, pouring it into the puddle of blood from his injured leg. "Take your blood money you son of a bitch. Antonio said, his face grim as it lacked a smile.
He propped his axe on his shoulder and walked through the door, holding Xavier close as tears wet his tan skin.
He was so sorry for making his brother go through such hell.
