[/u][/size]His little whispers. Love me. Love me. That’s all I ask for. Love me. Love me.
►►Character Name Miryam Cohen
Nation ► Israel
Human Name ► Miryam Cohen (Pronounced Me Ri Am Koh Hen. Some people called her Miri or Mary, although the last one is rarer)
Age ►Appears to be in her middle to late thirties. Real age is very, very old.
Gender ►Female
Species ►Malakh, an angel (But goes by the term 'witch'. Most people probably believe she's a Magic User, although a real Magic User could probably see she's hiding her wings.)
Description ►
A woman with long brown hair with slightly red undertones, Miryam is very exotic looking. Her skin is getting paler and paler, but as an Angel back above she had tan skin. Her eyes are turquoise colored normally, but turn greener when she's being passionate about her emotions.
She has several bindings on her person, from a golden anklet, to a few hair ornaments that can't be taken off. However, more bindings change with time and master to master. Since she's been freed, something that happened centuries ago, she's been wearing a cloak to hide them and herself. To others, when she's on her job, she appears as a person with a gravelly voice in a cloak.
He battered his tiny fist to feel something. Wondered what it’s like to touch and feel something.
Likes ►
- Flying
- Yael, her pet baby Ibex. (Yael follows her around like a sheep to it's herder. And Miryam has been alive a long time so she's pretty sure the Ibex is a familiar spirit, a manifestation of something that took the shape of an animal. She's not sure and never cared since Yael likes snuggling her and listens to her grievances.)
- Complaining to G-d. She still prays but sometimes she will just start talking to Him. She knows he can hear her very well.
- Festivities. They make her festive.
- Philosophy. She's an over-thinker and argues with herself (or others if she can) about the meaning of things.
- Younger men. Seriously. She starts flirting with them.
- Saving the money or not paying full price for anything.
Dislikes ► (Four at least.)
- Pain. Miryam's life has had too much of it. You name it, she's been through it.
- Humans. Many reasons why, but she's seen two milleniums of them and she has a pretty solid opinion on them.
- People referring to her as insane.
- Other Angels, the ones who weren't captured like she was.
- Someone pointing out one of her faults.
Strengths ► (Four at least.)
- Magical powers (further expanded on in the personality)
- Her ability to withstand lots of pain. Not that it doesn;t leave it's mark on her.
- Her determination to keep her faith. That's what keeping her from becoming a demon.
- Her arguing tendencies have made very good at bargaining for things.
Weaknesses ► (Four at least.)
- Even without her talking to G-d, she's not very sane and that sanity is breakable.
- Guilt. She isn't that much of a fallen angel, she was captured. Some of the things she has done since then (and been through) definitely have made her question God. Especially since she's been using her powers to tell the future.
- She can't kill a human. She might as well give up any hope of coming back to Heaven if she does.
Dreams ► (Four at least.)
- If on Earth, to live comfortably and successfully.
- Somehow be able to see the end of the heinous trade Humans have made.
- Redeem herself in G-d's eyes and be allowed back in Heaven.
- (This is an old dream, she never gives it much thought it but it describes her dreams as a child) To be a Seraphim or even an Ophanim.
Fears ► (Four at least.)
- Being captured once more.
- Becoming a demon.
- Never getting to Heaven and staying on Earth forever.
- Getting her wings clipped.
Personality ►
There are two sides to Miryam. The old little Angel who just got captured still shines sometimes, but the bitter, sarcastic woman is the more dominant personality. She enjoys arguing and complaining, things that make her feel better. Miryam is also very critical of herself. She's still curious about the world around her, but these days it's more on the lines of a nosy old woman. She's clever and intelligent, despite the fact she acts (and sort of is) crazy. However, she hates being questioned. She likes arguing but she hates losing her arguments.
Difficulty has taught Miryam the importance of human money. She saves it, and always makes sure she tries to lower the price for the things she needs. This is why she has a job, so she can make money. However, she's a generous person in lending her money but she does expect to be paid back, and will force this issue if not repaid. She is patient, but provoked enough and she becomes very angry and rather irrational. A positive trait is her sense of justice. Israel really doesn't believe in revenge justifying violence. Not that she minds violence, she just doesn't believe in an Eye for an Eye. She's always believed that if
She still has her faith, despite two thousand years from home. She clings to what she can from her time as an angel and follows the old customs she had to the letter. It's her biggest struggle, trying to maintain a balance of old and new without breaking. This does make blending in harder, but it does help Miryam in her 'mystic' fortune teller role. It' a position she is well-suited for, and Miryam is proud to say that since adapting it, no one has tried to capture her.
Miryam's abilities, besides flight, seem to center around precognition. Because of her job as an angel, she is able to enter dreams and change them around slightly. This makes her very skilled in Dream interpretation. She's also able to "feel" the future to an extent (her abilities depend on the person, but she never tells anyone exactly what is going to happen). She is able to see bad spirits and weave illusions strong enough to hide her her angelic features from the mundane humans with no magical abilities.
History ►
Some say the Angels disliked humans because they were what they were not: free
Before Miryam was captured she spent her time in heaven, playing games and doing her assignment. Malakhim are the normal angels, His work force. It was they who would bring messages to humans and dreams. Little clues and hints were left in dreams. Seldom was she ever asked to appear to directly. Truth be told, Miryam was curious and liked going down to Earth, but she never stayed longer than need to do her job. It went on this way for a long time, and as young angel, child-like in appearance, she was used very often as a dream-talker. Back in those earlier days, they meddled in Human affairs more often. However, all that changed one day, when she went down to give a farmer a portent that he should let his son join the priests for he'd become a great prophet, that she accidentally came across a magic user. She had taken a wrong turn in finding the human and stumbled across a man who decided she'd make some money, after all, who wouldn't want a little angel? She was sold off quickly to a master who had never seen an angel and decided she was a perfect attraction with her abilities.
She spent the few years crying. Her first master was cruel, watching over her constantly and making sure she never tried to fly back to Heaven. It took decades, but the man passed on and Miriyam was free. She flew back to Heaven, only to find the gates closed for her. Her time on Earth had made her unsuitable for returning to heaven. Grieving, she flew back to Earth and spent the next few months in a haze. Unfortunately, her lamenting was noticed by a magic user who quickly captured her again and sold her off. Her masters were much crueler than before and with each generation, the line between creature and human was furthered thickened, some treating her as a pretty yet savage animal. She was willed to descendents and sold off like a heirloom for many centuries, almost fifteen. It was only after that time that Miryam made her last (and most successful) attempt at escaping. She avoided human beings for a while, hiding in the wilderness. Now a veteran creature, Miryam decided to disguise herself as a human and poses as a mystical fortune teller.
Miryam has her little shop and has had it for centuries. As no one knows what the fortune teller looks like, no one really questions the shop. She pays her bills on time and really does nothing that will make the government put an interest in her, except give really cryptic interpretations of the future to customers. Once in a while she takes in a stray magical creature trying to flee the slavers. However she sends them on their way soon she since she can't really harbor fugitive slaves. Also, her services aren't cheap, unless you have something that interests her.
Monster, how should I feel? Creatures lie here, looking through the window…
Roleplay Sample ►
Months. Years. These things mean nothing to Miryam. She never needed those things before she became one of the servants of this land. She never thought there was something else besides day and night, when she would do her job. Angels hardly every grew. She hadn't realized she was a girl as well as there was no distinction.
Speaking of Distinction. "Your life line is rather cracked, are you involved in any affairs?"
Of course she was. The woman in front of her was like other woman of the upper class, bored. She probably kept a few lovers hidden away. However, the little cracks soon joined the line they sprung from, a sign of things eventually crashing into each other. Miriyam peered at her customer from beneath her heavy cloak.

I heavily dislike parings that end up making Russia seem like a rape truck/Sadistic maniac in them. His history and culture have enough to say about that.
