►►Character Name

Human Name ► Tino Väinämöinen
Age ► 20
Gender ► Male
Species ► Human
Description ►
He battered his tiny fist to feel something. Wondered what it’s like to touch and feel something.
Likes ►
Salmiakki – He adores it to death, and he doesn’t think he could ever live without the delicious snack. He does like to share some if he has any on hand, and be prepared to be met with a sad Finn if you decline.
Cooking – It isn’t his favorite thing to do, but he does like to cook. He loves baking the most, as he just prefers to have sweets and cakes rather than actual foods. The reason behind this is because he has a secret sweet tooth.
Festivals – He loves making them up, but it’s not like he would ever give his ideas about them except with his friends. He prefers to keep them in his mind, but he would love it if one of his little festivals were to be a real one.
Saunas (or Suanas) – Tino just loves to relax in the warmth of a sauna every once in awhile, but it often gets too expensive so he doesn’t go as often as he’d like to the sauna.
His cross neck-charm – It was passed down from his ancestors, and Tino feels that there’s something about it that keeps him safe and makes it special. He adores it and will not leave or go anywhere without it, mainly out of fear for losing it.
Moomins – He loves the little creatures to death, and he loves to sometimes scribble some drawings of them in his notebook. When someone confronts him about it, he denies a=everything about it with a blush betraying his words.
His friends – The ones dear to him, and he loves them with all of his heart. He would truly do anything for them, no matter how difficult the job was. He would try his best to succeed and make them happy.
Cute or pretty things – Animals, spirits, creatures, and anything else that is cute is aces with him. He loves cute things to death, and he loves to cuddle and hug them. He loves pretty sights and scenes, including the normal flower patches in fields or the sun rising or setting. It makes him happy.
Hugging and cuddling – A like that the Finn would never admit to. No matter how embarrassing it is, Tino loves to hug and cuddle things as much as he loves to receive hugs and cuddles.
Dislikes ►
Seeing people angry or sad – It disturbs him, and he does his best to comfort them, usually by giving hopes and promises for the future. He tries his best not to lie while comforting, but sometimes he has to lie to comfort the other.
Being teased – As long as he does not notice that someone is teasing him, he is perfectly happy and fine with it. Once he notices that someone is teasing him, it becomes insulting to him, and it brings his self-esteem down.
His low self-esteem – He doesn’t feel as if he’s worth much, so he doesn’t mind doing risky things. What he does mind about risky tasks is the pain it would cause him if he didn’t succeed, but he’ll never admit it. It doesn’t take a lot to either bring his self-esteem up or down.
Pain – It’s one of the things that Tino dislikes the most. He knows that pain goes away, but he does not like feeling pain, no matter if it’s mental pain or physical pain. He knows only one thing though. Feeling pain is being alive, and he is happy for that.
Strengths ►
Optimistic – He likes to be happy and have a bright view on things during the darkest of times, so he’s quite the optimist, cheering people up whenever need and giving them a brighter hope for the future.
Longsuffering – The Finn is quick to forgive and forget those who do or try to hurt him, and he doesn’t try to hold grudges on those he is angry at. Now, if one were to try to harm his family or friends, it may take awhile for Tino to get over it.
Humble – He is extremely respectful to people, and if he were to do something to insult someone else, he is quick to apologize and ask what he did wrong. He likes to know for later, just in case the problem was to be seen again. It lets him know what to say and what not to say.
Sees good in everything – Tino sees good in every living thing, and he believes that everything and everyone has a purpose in life. He believes that they should live life to its fullest and never give up hope for the better.
Weaknesses ►
Weak – He’s tiny, so he is weak. He struggles with physical activities and often gets beaten up if he gets into physical fights. With the way he’s built, he is easily broken and injured.
Can’t voice his opinion well – As said, he can’t voice his opinion well, either being interrupted or stopping himself in mid-sentence, usually not wanting to say anything wrong or not getting his point across very well.
Self-conscious – Tino is insecure about things, especially truly trusting people as his friends. He only gets this way after being betrayed or finding out that he was being used for something else.
Easily scared – He’s easily frightened, including when people sneak up on him. He doesn’t like it, as he gets frantic and shaky. Just wait a minute and he’ll be fine as long as he breathes and calms down, as his heartrate does pick up while frightened.
Meek – He’s quiet and submissive, almost to the point of being led around everywhere. This is where he gets gullible, and he starts trusting the other, following them around everywhere with a happy face and being completely naïve of another’s true intentions.
Sob stories – Tino is a complete sucker for sob stories, especially for children, always believing every word of the story and doing something to make the other happy. He often cheers them up by offering some sort of desert or sweet thing.
Thinks he can protect himself – To make himself feel better, if one were to ask him if he needed protection, he would disagree and say that he could protect himself, but the Finn knows very well he cannot protect himself that well. He sometimes questions himself if he can even fight.
Dreams ►
Tino wishes and dreams to be truly happy with himself, and included with that, he dreams that others would be happy with him as well.
He dreams of finding someone that he truly loves and connects with well, and he wants ‘that special someone’ or ‘knight in shining armor’ for his own.
The Finn wishes that he was not so insecure of the people around him or himself, and he wishes to finally gain trust in people and believe that they are a good person and not doubt that belief.
He dreams of not having to fight to survive, as he does not like to fight. He doesn’t like to fight, as it causes pain, sadness, and suffering.
Fears ►
Being forgotten – Tino has a huge fear of being forgotten, and he tends to hang around people for this very reason. If one were to forget him, he would get sad and depressed. He believes being forgotten is one of the worst things in the world, and it means that no one cares about you.
Being betrayed – It breaks his heart to know that someone has betrayed him, and he has a great fear that someone will betray him again. Just thinking about it makes him freeze up and brood over it, and he does hope that none of his good friends would ever betray him.
Being “not good enough” – Tino almost always believes that he isn’t good enough for something or someone, which keeps his self-esteem from rising too high. He doesn’t like this fact, and he fears that being “not good enough” will get him into deep trouble sooner or later.
Dying – He knows that death lasts forever, and that is why he fears it. He also fears the pain of dying; it only adds to his fear. He does not want to lose his life when he has a nice life to live.
Personality ►
Tino is a young adult with high hopes in his life. He likes to be happy and joyful around those who are around him, and he likes to see the better things in life rather than the worse things in life. He always sees the cup as half-full and never half-empty. He is very gentle and honest, and he’s honest to the point of where it might hurt someone if he tells the truth. He does always try to speak the truth. He is very simple in the way he does things and lives life; he tries to prove to people that life doesn’t need to be full of riches and luxuries to be good. It just needs some creativity and imagination, which often makes the Finnish man come off as a dreamer and idealistic.
He’s very talkative, and he loves having someone to talk with every once in awhile. He likes to come up with jokes to brighten the atmosphere, but for Tino, jokes are hard to make and often come out as corny or have a dry sense of humor. He likes to come up with the craziest of ideas, and he likes to plan how they would work out on paper drawings. Even though he has suffered through a horrid past, he looks over it and keeps being the same happy person for others.
There is a darker side to the Finn. He doesn’t like to show it, but he will get defensive and very protective if one were to threaten his friends or family (whatever he has left of his family). He is not quick to anger, but if he was provoked after awhile, he would go off on that person and won’t be afraid to attack the other verbally to make them go away. He tries not to become violent, so he tends to keep his anger hidden or just ends up hitting something. He’s not afraid to use whatever strength he does have to get someone to go away.
History ►
Tino was born into a small but rich family of his younger brother and his parents. While still a young boy, his father got into gambling and was willing to give up his oldest son if he did not win. In the end, Tino’s father did not win the gamble, and Tino was given as the prize for winning. The boy grew up not knowing this.
Tino grew up happily with his older sisters and brothers, often wanting to play with them but being shunned by them instead. He grew saddened at this, wondering why they were avoiding him. He soon started to play by himself, enjoying his own company rather than the company of others. He soon started to come up with these weird ideas that seemed almost impossible to complete, but the boy knew not the impossible, drawing it out on paper and showing his ideas to his ‘siblings.’ They kept ignoring him, making the young Tino want to work harder to get their attention.
It was that one day when one of the brothers finally snapped at Tino, telling him the story of how he came to be in the family and that he would never be as good as his so-called ‘family.’ He grew sad at this, trying to seek comfort in his adoptive mother, but only finding comfort in his oldest sister, Ingrid. Ingrid was to one to support his ideas, finding it cute and adorable at how Tino just wanted to be like the rest of the siblings and fit in. Ingrid had to explain to her ‘brother’ that they were only teasing him because he was different from the rest of them. She told him that they would soon open up to him as time passed and he spent more time with the family rather than by himself.
A few years later, his oldest siblings were forced out of the house to make a living, and Ingrid was one of them. As he grew up, he learned to read and write on his own, using that basic knowledge to his advantage whenever he could. He began working at a small café at a young age, knowing that he would probably need the money for later. When he became an adult, he was sent out of the house to make his own life. He was glad to have chosen work at a early age, and he was able to pay enough money to buy a small apartment to live in. He kept his job at the café, but he also began to study and research the creatures that lived in this world, trying to fully understand them and attempting to make friends with such creatures.
Monster, how should I feel? Creatures lie here, looking through the window…
Roleplay Sample ►
Tino smiled widely, his golden hair bouncing as he ran towards his oldest sister. He pulled at her sleeve gently, holding the pieces of paper and pencil in his hand. “Biwg sissy Ingwid, look what I made!” he said happily and with a childish voice, holding the paper with both of his tiny hands and proudly showing Ingrid the drawings he had been working on for about a week. He received a small chuckle and a soft pat on his head as a reward, and he enjoyed every second of the small embrace that Ingrid gave him.
“Oh, Tino, that is so creative of you,” she murmured to him, picking him up in her arms and holding him tightly. She scanned the small step-by-step drawings that Tino had made for his ideas. Tino’s violet eyes brightened into orbs of light. He laughed softly and gave a small squeal of excitement as he was lifted off the ground, his small tunic-like clothing swishing and drooping from his body.
“Tino is happwy that Sissy Ingwid wikes his piwtures,” he replied back to his sister’s praise, brushing his blonde hair back to his ears as he chuckled and hugged his sister. He was set back on the dry ground again, watching Ingrid pick some flowers from the field they were in and place one of the most beautiful flowers she picked in his hair. He smiled lightly at the action, fixing the small white flower to make fit it comfortably in his short hair. He sat down on the ground, looking at the beautiful scenery around him. It was white and yellow flowers with a few trees and some bushes in the background. In the distance, one was able to see the mountains. He took his pencil in his hand, sketching the landscape around him and making a final sketch once he was done with the sketch. He smiled as he started to draw his big sister Ingrid and himself in the middle of the field of flowers, petals flying around them and twirling around them. He placed Ingrid and him in a dancing pose and liked the idea of the two of them dancing in a field of flowers as petals flew around them. He didn’t notice that Ingrid was looking over his shoulder, clearly interested in whatever Tino was drawing and smiling contently.
“Aw, that is cute, brother! Is that supposed to be us dancing?” she asked the boy. Tino looked up at her and nodded. She lifted him off of the ground, making him stand up and drop the tools he had with him. “Dance with me, then,” she murmured, giggling and blushing slightly. Tino nodded, dancing clumsily with his sister until the two siblings were called in for supper.
